Emmet Fox Fifteen Points of TruthWhen I first read Emmet Fox’s 15 Points of Truth, I was hooked. However, in order to write anything about them, I’ve really had to put my sleuth hat on as there is little information out there about their origin. Here is what I’ve come up with.
Interestingly, and very relevant here, Emmet Fox had an early interest in becoming ordained as a Unity minister. However, at the time, one of the requirements to do this was that a person complete a correspondence course in “Lessons in Truth”. Emmet Fox was already quite well-known in the New Thought movement, and quite occupied, and didn’t think he should need to fill this requirement. Thus, he never became a Unity minister and later went on to lead the First Church of Divine Science in New York City, becoming one of the ages great teachers of Truth principles.
Emmet Fox’s Fifteen Turning Points in Truth are quoted often, yet do not come from his most famous work, “The Sermon on the Mount”. In fact, they can be found at the end of another of his very popular works, “Power Through Constructive Thinking”. Here they are:
Emmet Fox Fifteen Points of Truth
I Am Really in Truth . . .
If I always look for the best in each person, situation and thing.
If I resolutely turn my back on the past, good or bad, and live only in the present and future.
If I forgive everybody without exception, no matter what he or she may have done, and if I then forgive MYSELF wholeheartedly.
If I endeavor to make my life of as much service to others as possible, without interfering or fussing.
If I take every opportunity wisely to spread the knowledge of Truth to others.
If I rigidly refrain from personal criticism and neither speak nor listen to gossip.
If I devote at least a quarter of an hour a day to prayer and meditation.
If I read at least seven verses of the Bible every day.
If I specifically claim spiritual understanding of myself every day.
If I train myself to give the first thought on waking to God.
If I speak the Word for the whole world every day, say at noon.
If I PRACTICE the Golden Rule of Jesus instead of merely admiring it. He said, “Whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them.” The important point about the Golden Rule is that I am to practice it whether the other person does so or not.
If, above all, I understand that whatever I see is but a picture which can be changed for the better by Scientific Prayer.
If you want to demonstrate ask yourself once a week how far you are observing these points in your life.

Now, “in truth”, I haven’t read this book yet but it has now shot to the top of my list and I have ordered it. Many of the chapters in the book are from some of his pamphlets and essays, such as “The Seven Day Mental Diet” and “The Golden Key”. In his time, Emmet Fox addressed some of the largest audiences ever gathered to hear one man’s thoughts on the religious meaning of life. This says a lot. His various works, through his books and pamphlets, have been distributed to millions since and it’s estimated that they have come into the hands of upwards of 10 million. Just consider for a moment how those numbers are destined to explode with the power of the web.
